15 Years after TAI SHA (太傻) came out .. pls comment 4 me k?

Hi … I consider myself as someone who enjoys blogging a lot
but these days I kinda been doing less of it … mainly bcos I’ve been busy and
also bcos I dun like to talk about the part of my life where I get to be on
stage as an entertainer (people who know me well will know I’m not ‘glam’ at
all in real life .. haha), anyway doing promo on many many stages is wat I’ve
been (busy busy) doing most part of the last few months (wow!!! time flies
again!) … so I guess wat I rather write about is something which i enjoy … about
more personal stuffs like my experience outside the life of being an artiste
and especially my music discovery journey … I remember that’s how I started to write my first blog .. it was about
meeting new friends, sharing my music and also learning more about Friendster,
blogs and the internet .. haha!

Anyway, today I wanna talk about my experience on ONE
particular song which I had to learn last December (LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH), I
was told tat this song was very very popular back in 1993 or 1994 (when I was
not even 10 years old, hhaha!) so it was like listening to a brand new song for
the first time … and I was told I’ll be singing this song in front of more than
50,000 people!!! (it turned out to be more than 65,000!!) … It was the toughest
thing for me to do so far … well anyway, I DID IT and it was a wonderful
feeling … and the feedback from many many people was overwhelming … I got so
many positive messages about this and asking me to SING THIS SONG on my next
album !!!

So here I am … sincerely asking for YOUR OPINION, do you
think I should perform this song on my next album??? I’m thinking of doing a DEMO (haha .. just like how I used to do
it the last time) but I really hope to get some of YOUR COMMENTS .. can you
HELP ME? The ORIGINAL singers of this
song, ERIC MOO and MINDY KE (although I’m not very familiar wit most of their
work) performed the song in 1993 so EXCEPTIONALLY WELL and I really feel BIG
PRESSURE if I were to sing it 15 years later in 2008 … so PLEASE PLEASE share
your thoughts with me ok?? Heheh …
right now, the only version I have is this YOUTUBE version, it’s not very clear
(and very short) but I hope you can have a listen ok?

    u know how much i love tis song when 1st time i listen u sing LIVE…n i still remember i use to dedicate tis song n ask u to sing again in d next day….

    so d conclusion is, i will agree u to sing tis song…perhaps, i miss d moment when listen u singing LIVE tat day….d song out of sudden become so great n nice wif ur good vocal…

    i still remember i do tell u tat im pround of ur performance on tat day n my frenz are keep “puji” u for FEW days…

    so…d ans is clear from me right???lolz

  2. Singing a song from more than 15 years ago would be a huge challenge…but I believe u will be able to do it..
    A demo of this song would be good and of course nice with ur strong vocals and voice.
    But singing this song in ur next upcoming album,I would slightly disagree,because honestly it would feel like a repetition of the song,and it lacks originality..it would seem like a copy.Unless it’s modified or changed in a way..
    This is what i think,hope u don feel offended.

    i had listen tis song b4, and that singer is 巫启闲.u have more powerfull voice than him.(i mean it)keep it on ~ i’m waiting for ur lastest video demo！+u+u

    for ur new album,i had same opinion with Tzia Shen.but is ok to gip it a try. u have our support.

  5. Hi Karen nice to hear from U again. From my point of view, this TAI SHA (太傻) song has a very high pitch which most of them can’t perform it well. But U did it greatly. Just that need to put more feeling on this song and control the pitch well, than it will be wonderful.

    So happy to hear about your next album news. From your current album, there was repetition song too, it was ‘In Love Again’ . But U sang it SOOOo well even better than the original singer and I like it so much (currently is my HP ring tone). As long it is a good song, why not? Just go ahead. Everyone love it so much.

    As conclusion, it will be great to put this song in your next album. Since this song was very popular and it might bring U to a higher level in the music industry.

Hi Karen it’s a good news to know that u r collecting songs for your next album, “太傻” it was my favorite song then, I loved both version by “柯以敏 ” & “巫啟賢”. it’s really a nice song, i think u perform it in live quite good & I’m sure it will be better if u perform it in studio & with the recomposed background music.

    As a member of ur BIG family…i would say why not!! Cause no matter its 巫啟賢’s version or our princess’s version…i believe dat both version r going to be 2 totally different “song”…

  13. i know this song, n it made eric moo shoot to stardom back in those days.
    i think that it’ll b a good idea as u’ll b bringing an old classic to a younger crowd who didn’t have a chance to enjoy it. n from my knowledge of how u sing, i’m confident that u’ll b adding your own talents n creativity to make this old song come to life in a more colorful way.

    When the first time i saw you sing this song un-pluged in Melaka, i was shock that your powerful voice has stunned all the audience and i can sure that is equally as good as the original singer, Eric Moo.
    Actually Eric Moo is my favourite singer because he write and sing a lot of pupular song in the 80. It is not easy to present the sound especially if u wish to sing un-plugged.
    Well Done, karen. i 100% support that u put it in your demo or the next album.

    Basically, singing a 15 year back songs its hard..but according what I listen in the youtube, I don’t think it’s very nice. You could try to make a demo and see do people love the way you sing for that song before decide anything. No Harm Trying :)

    这首歌你唱很好，听过的朋友给我的都是正面的评语，就连当天在VVIP SEAT的一些歌手都赞你唱得好，声音很有爆发力，可以媲美柯以敏。。。不过咬字方面需要再努力些。。。
    当天的太傻怎么听起来像REMIX版，唱得有些快，感觉少了感情与歌曲原本想传达的讯息(纯粹个人意见)，所以你要再好好斟酌看该怎么去把这首歌演绎得更完美。。。

    听了你的《太傻》，个人觉得你是为了要把这首歌演绎好而强硬性的把这首歌唱出来。尤其到了chorus的时候，感觉爆发得太快，一时承受不了。听你唱这首歌的时候感觉和你的人很不搭。。。

  59. eventough u r a new singer, but u still can compare the POWER of VOICE u had, compare to Eric Moo n Mindy Quah. I’ve listened both version b4, when i was young last time.. but ur LIVE performance of “Tai Sha” really really amazing. It is GREAT to hear such POWER of VOICE .. summore is LIVE performance.. i know u r so afraid that moment, i also know that this song is not so easy to PUSH to the HIGH limit.. haha (As i been tried in Redbxx karaoke, haha, DAMN high note)

Keep perfecting your pitches especially during the chorus part and I’ll have to say you must sing the song with a faster-pace(just like in Youtube) and perfect the higher tone parts of the song. I said in Youtube that because of you singing live that caused you to not be able reach the high tones correctly, I’m sure you’ll do it well in your recording.   65. Hi. COmpare with the two original singers (ke yi min and wu qi xian), u have different of feel of this song. As per the rest of comment: the corus part was too high till we cant feel anything. Perhap u can do/improve of it.. It’s a gd idea to add this song into ur new album.. Kambadeneh @_@

  73. You have a powerful voice but you struggled at chorus part.. i recommend 1st chorus part dont take it so high first.. then the 2nd one only blow the audience off.. just my 2 cents.. :) i know you can do it..

  74. To be honest with you, i don’t feel comfortable when u sing this song. To be precise, u can sing high pitch doesnt make u a singer, needless to say be a good singer. U increase ur volume during climax part/chorus as if u are screaming ur heart out to sing the high pitch, low volume as if like talking and murmuring in the verse part. The way u sing is very “OLD” style. Ur voice is not unique/good enough to survive in this music industry, too sharp. Although i am not a professional/music related expert, i am judging as a consumer because we are the one who will buy the CD or support a good singer. Please be remindful that I am not criticising u baselessly. p.s just personal opinion, no offence

  76. I watched the video. Nice work. In the video, your voice is very powerful.I have a suggestion.

    If you include this song in new album, I hope you change the background music, change the feeling a bit. Even it’s same melody and lyrics, I hope to see you make it into “Karen version”, not just your voice, or the way you sing, but the whole feeling and experience of “music” from this song.

    I remember there were many old song were remade into song w/ totally different feelings. David Tao got a few good work as example. hmm… “shake head” dance version seems not so appropiate for this song :P
